MTC’s reliable and clear telephone service can be enhanced by adding any or all of these Calling Features.
Automatic Callback (Call Return) |
Automatic callback will automatically call back the last incoming number.
Activation Procedure
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *69 (rotary dial 1169)
- If the line is:
- Not busy, listen for announcement of number and time of last incoming call. Press 1 to dial number.
- Busy, listen for announcement, and hang up. Automatic Callback will attempt to place the call every minute for half an hour. You’ll be notified with a special ring when the line becomes free. Picking up on the special ring will activate the dialing of the number.
- Dialing *89 (rotary dial 1189) will deactivate the feature.
You may place and receive calls while Automatic Callback is trying to reach a busy number.
Automatic Callback is capable of monitoring more than one busy number at a time; however, you will not be able to differentiate upon ringback notification.
If Automatic Callback is used on a long distance number, you will be billed additionally for long distance charges.

Automatic Recall (Repeat Dialing) |
Automatic recall will automatically redial the last number you dialed, and if busy, will notify you when the line becomes available.
Activation Procedure
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *66 (rotary dial 1166)
- If line is:
- Not busy, listen for ringing.
- Busy, listen for announcement, and hang up. You’ll be notified with a special ring when the line becomes free. Picking up on the special ring will activate the dialing of the number.
Deactivation Procedure
- Dialing *86 (rotary dial 1186) will deactivate the feature.
You may place and receive calls while Automatic Recall is trying to reach a busy number.
Automatic Recall is capable of monitoring more than one busy number at a time; however, you will not be able to differentiate upon ringback notification.

Prevents numbers you select from being able to dial your number.
Activation Procedure

- To add another number, dial that number, then press #.
- To remove numbers from your list:

Customer Originated Trace |
Delivers the number of the last incoming call to the MTC Central Office.
Activation Procedure
- Hang up receiver following call to be traced.
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *57, listen for the announcement.
It is necessary to activate the trace immediately following the call to be traced is received.
Should a call waiting call come in during a call which will be traced, the call waiting call will be the one traced since it is the last incoming call.
After a call is traced, notify the MTC Business Office giving the approximate time the trace was made.

Selective Call Acceptance |
Phone only allows numbers on your list to ring through. All others receive a recording.
Activation Procedure
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *64, listen for instructions which include the following:
- To add numbers to your list:
- Press #
- To add the last incoming number to your list, press 01, then press #.
- To add another number, dial that number, then press #.
- To remove numbers from your list:
- Press *
- Dial that number, then *, then 1 to confirm.
- To remove all numbers from your list:
- To hear a list of the numbers on your list
- Press 1

Allows assignment of a distinctive ring pattern for up to six incoming numbers.
How to Access Selective Distinctive Ringing:

Unidentified Call Rejection |
Prevents the delivery of unidentified (private) calls to your number.
Moundville Telephone Company must set up this feature initially on your line.
Activation Procedure
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *77.
Deactivation Procedure
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *87.
Callers preventing the delivery of their number will receive a recording saying the number they’re trying to reach is not receiving calls from private numbers.
This is a free service provided by Moundville Telephone to customers who subscribe to Caller ID or Caller ID Deluxe. |
Call Forwarding - Variable |
Allows calls to be forwarded to a number of the user’s choice at the user’s discretion.
Activation Procedure
- Listen for dial tone
- Press *72.
- Listen for second dial tone, then enter the number to which calls are to be forwarded.
- That number will then begin to ring. Inform the party you are forwarding your calls tot that number.
If you get a busy or no answer to the forwarding number, Call Forwarding can still be established by repeating steps 1-4 with no answer necessary. (After repeating steps 1-4, you’ll hear two short tones followed by a steady dial tone.)
Verify the status of Call Forwarding by dialing *72. If you hear a fast busy, calls are being forwarded.
No calls can be received while Call Forwarding is active.
You’ll receive an additional charge for calls forwarded outside the local calling area.

- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *73.

Call Forwarding - Don't Answer |
Allows calls to be forwarded after a predetermined number of rings.
If a call is not answered before a certain number of rings (determined by the user) the call is forwarded to a predetermined number. This information is programmed by the phone company on your line.

Remote Access to Call Forwarding |
Allows the activation of call forwarding from any remote touchtone phone.
Activation Procedure
- Dial the Remote Access Number (371-0103)
- Dial your 7-digit number that has Remote Access to Call FWD.
- Dial your Personal ID Number (PIN) followed by #.
- Dial the Call FWD activation code (*72).
- Dial the number to where your calls are to be forwarded.
Deactivation Procedure
- Repeat steps 1-3 from above.
- Dial Call FWD deactivation code (*73).
- Press 1 to confirm.

Speed Calling 8 and Speed Calling 30 |
Lets you place local and long distance calls by dialing a one digit code.
Recording Numbers to Your List
- Listen for dial tone.
- Press *74, listen for second dial tone.
- Dial a Speed Calling code (number 2-9 for Speed Calling 8 or 20-49 for Speed Calling 30.)
- Dial the number to be associated with that code.
- Listen for two short tones to confirm successful entry.
To Place a Speed Call

You may change an entry by entering a new number for that entry as shown above.

Three-way Calling |
Allows conversations between three numbers.
Activation Procedure
- Get the first party on the line.
- Depress the switchook for one second to place call on hold.
- Listen for short bursts of dial tone followed by steady dial tone, then dial second party.
- When second party answers, you may speak privately before adding first party by depressing switchook again for one second.
- End both calls by hanging up or end one call by having that party hang up.

Call Waiting (with cancel feature) |
A special tone alerts you to an incoming call when you're already on the phone.
Call waiting can be deactivated at any time.
With Call Waiting, you'll hear a tone when someone calls and you are already on the phone. Call Waiting is compatible with Distinctive Ringing; selected calls will have a distinctive call waiting tone. When you hear the tone, you can do one of three things:
- End the call
- Switch between two calls
- Ignore the call waiting tone
To cancel call waiting prior to placing a call, press *70, listen for a stutter dial tone, and proceed with placing the call.
To cancel call waiting during a call, place the call on hold by flashing the switchook, press *70 and listen for the stutter dial tone. Flash the switchook again to return to the call in progress.
